Pitlochry Festival Theatre has announced that Ewan McGregor and Sam Heughan will appear in a special pair of fundraising events alongside Artistic Director Alan Cumming.

The events form part of the Theatre’s 75th Anniversary Appeal, which aims to raise £500,000 by the end of 2026 to support productions, new writing and engagement work.

The fundraising series opens on Sunday 26 July with Alan Cumming in conversation with Sam Heughan.

Best known for his role as Jamie Fraser in the television series Outlander, Heughan will reflect on his journey from Scottish beginnings to international success.

The evening will explore the creative risks, milestones and ambitions that have shaped his career, with a focus on the projects that continue to inspire him.

Ahead of the discussion, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre Young Company will open the evening with a short curtain raiser performance, reflecting Heughan’s advocacy for youth theatre and his role as Patron of Youth Theatre Arts Scotland.

On Wednesday 29 July, Alan Cumming will be joined by Ewan McGregor for a second In Conversation event.

McGregor will look back on a career spanning more than three decades, from his breakthrough role as Renton in Trainspotting to global recognition through films including Star Wars, Moulin Rouge and Black Hawk Down.

The conversation will include behind-the-scenes insights and reflections on the acting techniques that have defined his work across film and stage.

PITLOCHRY Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director Alan Cumming said “I’m so excited and grateful that Sam and Ewan are both coming to support the work of this new era at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and I hope they will return again soon to actually take part in one of the productions here, as their In Conversation evenings play such a vital role in supporting the Theatre.”

Ewan McGregor added: “I’m very excited to be taking the drive up to Pitlochry soon to have a chat with my old pal Alan Cumming. Alan and I have bumped into each other on and off Screen, at Film festivals and Theatre foyers for the length of our careers and it’s going to be so fun to chat with him on stage at Pitlochry to raise funds for this wonderful Theatre”

Both events will take place in the Theatre’s auditorium, with tickets priced at £50, alongside a limited number of VIP meet and greet tickets available for £85.

Listings and ticket information can be found here.
