Based on a true and harrowing story, Society of the Snow is a retelling of the Flight 571 crash in 1972, which stranded a Uruguayan rugby team in the Andes. Critically acclaimed and currently shortlisted for Best International Film at the upcoming Academy Awards, this survival thriller won’t be for the weak of heart. Garnering praise for its unflinching depiction of the horrors endured by the crash’s 16 survivors and their ensuing desperation, Society of the Snow draws from the survivors’ real-life testimonies, as given in Uruguayan journalist Pablo Vierci’s 2009 book of the same name.

History Channel fans, get your bag!
Queer Eye (Season 8)
Release date: 24 January
The beloved reality show Queer Eye returns for its eighth season filmed in New Orleans. Though a trailer has yet to drop, what we do know is this will be interior designer Bobby Berk’s final season as part of the Fab 5, so this might be a particularly poignant one to catch. With rumours of a fall-out with the rest of the cast making the rounds, maybe we can put our detective hats on and see if we detect a vibe shift…
