Emily and Brennan were the first couple to get married this season, and they’ve been having a rough time since returning from their honeymoon. On their honeymoon, Brennan and Emily bonded over their shared professional ambitions, personal values and hopes for the future. They seemed to have a crush on each other, and Brennan called Emily hers “dream girl” early.
However, after returning from Mexico, Brennan said he was not interested in Emily and felt “cleared” after spending 24/7 with him on honeymoon. Since then Emily has been trying to get Brennan to feel the spark again, but Brennan hasn’t been able to. In recent episodes, they’ve been building their friendship, but Emily has been increasingly frustrated by what she sees as Brennan’s lack of effort to make her feel comfortable and wanted in their marriage. Brennan has resisted therapy, been open and vulnerable in front of the camera, and tried every kind of intimacy with Emily.

Emily booked an ATV trip for her and Brennan
In an effort to expand the amount of fun she and Brennan have together and keep their interactions on the lighter side, Emily booked an ATV day for her and Brennan during the couples retreat they joined. At dinner the night before the ATV ride, Emily shared how excited she was to do the activity with Brennan. The other couples agreed that it would be a good way for Emily and Brennan to bond in the midst of marital turmoil.
The next morning, Emily gave her own interview in which she described, “Brennan and I are into ATVs. We like more fun, more exciting stuff, so I thought this would be a fun thing to do. I just like the positive vibes this weekend. Maybe some atmospheres living on the edge.” Arriving on the ATV trip, Brennan noted in a private interview that he and Emily were “We’re working on the friendship part of our relationship and haven’t been able to do a fun adventure in a while.”
Emily crashed an ATV and needed an ambulance
The Married at first sight cameras showed Emily exclaiming how excited she was about the ATV before she and Brennan left with their guide. A moment later on the path with Brennan in front of Emily. Emily’s ATV camera showed her going off the trail and crashing. As the crew, Brennan and the guide ran over, someone was heard saying, “We have a lot of blood; he cut his head open.” Emily was then heard asking Brennan, “Shall I stay?” Brennan replied: “You will be okay.”
911 was called and Brennan stroked Emily’s hand as she held a towel to her bleeding head wound. Brennan didn’t leave Emily’s side until the paramedics came to check on her lying on the ATV. Paramedics asked him if he knew where he was as they bandaged his head before taking him away in an ambulance. Brennan looked at the scene saying, “This is damn bad.”
