Eastern Angles Theatre Company has announced its 2026 summer touring season, featuring two new productions that explore memory, loss and the enduring influence of the past.
The company will present the world premiere of It Comes In Wavesa new comedy drama by James McDermott, alongside a fresh stage adaptation of L. P. Hartley’s classic novel The Go Betweenwritten by Ben Musgrave.
From June, It Comes In Waves brings a tender and heartwarming story set in a grief café in Lowestoft. Blending comedy with deep emotional resonance, the play follows characters coping with bereavement while navigating the challenges of a changing coastal town.
 
 
 
 
McDermott draws from his own experiences of losing his father to COVID19, with the production supported by Eastern Angles and The Seagull Theatre Lowestoft. Performances will be accompanied by grief writing workshops co-led by McDermott and a professional grief recovery specialist to encourage reflection and conversation.
Later in the season, Eastern Angles tours The Go Betweena bold reimagining of Hartley’s novel. Set during a long summer in Norfolk in 1900, it follows thirteen-year-old Leo Colston as he becomes the messenger between two secret lovers, leading to consequences that shape the course of his life.
The adaptation features original live music and atmospheric staging rooted in the landscapes of Norfolk, exploring themes of class, desire, memory and lost innocence.
