A hand dumping a black bag in a wheelie bin

Unless you’re one of those odd ones who “like to stay friends with all my exes”, most of us like to keep our past relationships where they belong, in the past. But, we’ve found the perfect reason to dig up old memories this Valentine’s Day. If only to dump them all over again, once and for all.

For the most romantic time of year, waste management experts, BusinessWaste.co.uk have launched a competition to put your ex’s name on a bin. Cheating, lying, stealing, whatever your reasons for breaking up, this is your chance to take out the trash for good.

“For many people, the memories they have of their ex are quite simply rubbish,” said Mark Hall, co-founder of BusinessWaste.co.uk. “With over 50,000 bins throughout the UK, we wanted to put them to good use and offer people the chance to take the trash out by naming a bin after their ex.

“We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to turn heartache into healing, a cathartic experience for those who need to dump the past, or the perfect way to cheer up a friend who’s single this Valentine’s Day.”

BusinessWaste.co.uk helps businesses throughout the UK with their commercial waste needs – from waste collection and disposal to legal and regulatory advice. But, for anyone who wants to see the name of an ex emblazoned on the side of a bright green binthis might be their most vital service.

How do I enter my ex’s name?

You’ll simply need to fill out a short form on the company’s website. This includes entering the name of your ex, the type of bin you want to add them to, and which message you’d like to send them. The name with the most entries will be added to a bin on February 14th. In the meantime, the website also generates a postcard so you can see how your bin could look. You can do that by heading here.
