People in London are strongly urged to check if their gas hob requires an immediate safety repair.
An estimated 100,000 gas hobs sold in the UK may be fitted with a connection which is at risk of breaking whether the hob is in use or not. Should this occur, it could lead to poisoning, burns, gas leakage or fire.
Twelve UK gas hob manufacturers have worked with the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) to implement a nationwide corrective action program to make the affected gas hob models safe.
Together, all brands are committed to ensuring people’s safety and have ensured that customers in need of assistance will have access to a free and safe repair service for the affected devices.
How do I know if I have an affected model?
The model number for your hob can be found either on the rating plate under the hob or in the user manual.
You can contact the brands at Toll free number above. Alternatively, go to gashobsrepair.mktpoint.com to enter your details. When contacting them, please have your model number handy.
What should customers in London do next?
Customers should immediately check their gas hob against the list of models above.
If you use an affected liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) appliance and live in a caravan, holiday home or mobile home, disconnect it from the LPG cylinder immediately.
Owners of a permanent home (whether they use mains gas or LPG) can continue to use their hob while waiting for an engineer to visit, but should be vigilant and call the National Gas Emergency Helpline or a Gas Safe engineer if they smell gas.
