The Local Government Association (LGA) has failed to agree on whether to back plans to give English strategic mayors the power to introduce a tourism tax.
In its response to the Government’s consultation on the plans, the Labour-led LGA stressed that its support for the levy was the ‘majority position’, with its Conservative group objecting to the policy ‘within the organisation on consecutive occasions’.
