Manchester City Council chief executive Tom Stannard has defended the ‘integrity’ of last month’s by-election after police found no evidence of illegality.

Electoral observers Democracy Volunteers alleged they had recorded ‘the highest levels of family voting at any election in our 10-year history of observing elections in the UK’ in during the Gorton and Denton by-election.
