Celebrate spring in style with a glorious floral-themed tea
Are you planning to check out Belgravia in Bloom? As if like magic, the sun has appeared just in time to make this festival perfect. It is timed to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show a magnificent event in its own right that doesn’t need an entry ticket and costs nothing to experience! It’s the ninth year of the festival – and this year’s theme is floral fun and games. Visit Belgravia in Bloom to see the neighbourhood come alive with epic floral displays. From 20th – 26th May, the streets of Belgravia will be lined with floral displays. This part of London is home to some of the best florists in the City like Moyses Stevens and Neill Strain Floral Couture, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that there will be several major displays around Belgravia. Many of the local shops create their own displays too. And, for a very special treat, The Goring Hotel has created a limited edition ‘Bloomin’ Lovely Afternoon Tea’ that will run from 13th May through to 26th May 2024.
The Goring is London’s last remaining family-owned luxury hotel and, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace. It’s quintessentially British and the perfect place to indulge in afternoon tea. The ‘Blooming Lovely Afternoon Tea will be served in the Veranda, looking out over the Goring’s private garden, a stunning landscape with beautiful borders that include the ‘Royal Border’ filled with a selection of the Royal Family’s favourite flowers and shrubs.
Perhaps that’s why this particular London hotel is such a favourite with Royalty? It’s the only hotel in London to hold a Royal Warrant and the entire top floor was booked by the Middleton family as their base for the marriage of Catherine and William in 2011. Still under the control of the original owners, there are rumours that it’s connected to the palace by a secret tunnel!
The Bloomin’ Lovely Afternoon Tea will comprise an assortment of floral-inspired sandwiches, scones and cakes. Even the sandwiches will have a botanical theme using fresh herbs from the garden.
While traditionalists may prefer a cup of Earl Grey or an Afternoon Tea blend, there will be an array of herbal teas and floral infusions. And, if you are feeling really decadent, a glass of either Bollinger Special Cuvée Champagne or Bollinger Rosé Champagne.
