On the recommendation of the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ric Lewis has been appointed as the next Chair of The Crown Estate, effective from 9 July 2025. This announcement follows pre-appointment scrutiny by the Treasury Committee.

Ric has over 35 years of experience in the real estate investment sector and is currently the Executive Chair and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Tristan Capital Partners, a real estate investment manager he founded in 2009.

Additionally, Juliet Davenport OBE has been re-appointed to The Crown Estate Board, by Royal Warrant, to serve a second four-year term, effective 1 September 2024. Previously, Juliet was appointed to the Board in September 2020.

Juliet is a successful entrepreneur and non-executive, with significant experience in the renewable energy sector as founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Good Energy.

Helen Price was also appointed to The Crown Estate Board by Royal Warrant, effective 1 January 2025. Helen is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at The Crown Estate and holds an executive position on the Board.

Helen brings a diverse range of financial experience from across FTSE listed businesses. Prior to joining The Crown Estate, Helen was CFO of InfraRed Capital Partners Ltd and CFO of HICL Infrastructure Plc.

Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, said:

I would like to congratulate Ric Lewis on his appointment as Chair of The Crown Estate, and Juliet Davenport and Helen Price for their appointments to the board.

They will bring a wealth of experience to The Crown Estate as it works with the government and the private sector to invest in the UK.

The above non-executive appointments were made in accordance with the Code of Practice published by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. The positions are appointed by His Majesty The King under Royal Warrant, following recommendation by the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer.

All appointments are made on merit, and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity to be made public.

Ric Lewis has declared political donations made to support the political offices of Shaun Bailey in 2020 and David Lammy MP in 2023 and 2024. The donations made to Shaun Bailey and David Lammy MP totalled £50,000 and £30,000 respectively. Helen and Juliet have not engaged in activity political activity in the last five years.
