Students and parents across the Academies Trust schools have had much to celebrate as they received their GCSE examination results.
Year 11 pupils from the -sponsored secondary schools in Hackney, Islington and Southwark were jumping for joy as they learnt their hard work and determination had paid off.
Highlights include:
Academy Southwark achieved the best results in the academy’s history with 77% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
Academy Shoreditch Park achieved their best results since opening in 2017 – 83% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
Academy Islington – 60% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
City Academy Hackney – 80% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
Academy Highbury Grove – 63% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
Academy Highgate Hill – 63% of pupils gained a Level 4 pass or above, in both English and Maths GCSEs.
All schools across the Corporation-led multi-academy trust are judged to be ‘Good’ or better by Ofsted, with 50% now rated ‘Outstanding’.
Academies Trust Chief Executive Officer, Mark Emmerson, said:
“We are unashamedly ambitious for all our students across our CoLAT schools. The results are a true testament to the dedication and hard work demonstrated every day by our students and teachers alike.
“We have very high expectations for ourselves and for all students and I am incredibly proud of all their academic achievements. This summer, students at our founding academy in Southwark achieved the best A level and GCSE results in the school’s history, while our newest sixth form, Islington Collegiate Sixth Form in Islington, sent its first students to Cambridge, with 100% of pupils securing Russell Group offers.
“We, with the Corporation, are enabling more young Londoners to realise their potential in, what we believe is, the global education capital.”
The schools are part of the Academies Trust, which runs the Corporation’s sponsored academies. The City Corporation sponsors 10 high-performing academies across Hackney, Islington, Newham, and Southwark through the Trust. It is also the local education authority for one maintained primary school in the , and the proprietor of four independent schools.
