Find out all there is to see, do and explore this Christmas in King’s Cross
Kick off the festivities at Club Curling
Set against the backdrop of a wintery alpine wonderland, stepping foot inside Club Curling is guaranteed to have you positively bursting with Christmas spirit. And whilst you might come for the curling, you’ll stay for the programme of live DJs and delicious cocktails at the new Club Curling lounge bar. And, it’s just £8 to play, with under 12s going free when accompanied by an adult. Be sure to pre-book online to get your slot! Open from 12pm-8pm daily until February 25 2024, you can visit Club Curling as part of a festive weekend outing or as a fun post-work activity before some late night shopping.
Shop after-hours at Thursday Lates
At such a busy time of year, finding the time to factor in shopping for gifts can feel… stressful. Not only is King’s Cross home to a fantastic array of independent boutiques and signature brands, shops in Coal Drops Yard are extending their opening hours to 9pm every Thursday until December 14. So you can take your time browsing and enjoying the festivities, and there’ll even be a special line-up of DJs creating the perfect Christmassy vibe whilst you shop.
Peruse the pop-up winter markets
Alongside the excellent host of permanent retail outlets at King’s Cross, this year you can explore eight pop-up markets. Until December 23, (last-minute shoppers are in luck!), you can hunt for special, unique gifts from independent homeware, fashion, beauty, food and arts and crafts brands. And this year’s headline retailer is lifestyle brand, TOAST, which will be bringing you sustainably made lifestyle trinkets that are perfect for gifting. Visit the weekly TOAST festive markets in Coal Drops Yard between November 16 and December 17 and be sure to check out the other upcoming pop-ups.
Admire the gorgeous festive surroundings
Making your Christmassy outings extra magical, King’s Cross will be looking more festive than ever thanks to some remarkable installations. There’s a festive new installation called Fleeting Forest in Granary Square and Temenos will be returning for another winter. This striking sculpture by renowned artist Liliane Lijn represents both a grove of trees and a protective circle. Found in Lewis Cubitt Square, this 11.3m sculpture will illuminate the skies of King’s Cross day and night. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a tree… and you can’t miss the towering 46ft fir in Coal Drops Yard.
