Carrots help you see in the dark, cheese gives you nightmares and crusts make your hair frizzy to top the list of common food myths believed by Britons, in a new study released today.
The study, which was carried out by FUNKIN COCKTAILS to celebrate the launch of the Nitro Blue Raspberry Martini, found that despite not being a real fruit, more than a quarter of us are convinced that blue raspberries do exist.
The 10 most common food myths that the British believe:
- Carrots can help you see in the dark (70%)
- Eating cheese gives you nightmares (36%)
- Eating toast makes your hair curly (34%)
- Rubber takes seven years to melt (33%)
- Vitamin C prevents colds (32%)
- Eating apple seeds causes them to grow in the stomach (30%)
- Spilling salt is bad luck (29%)
- The five-second rule works when you drop food on the floor (29%)
- Tomatoes are vegetables (27%)
