BOXPARK has been granted planning permission to open a new venue in Birmingham’s vibrant Digbeth area. Launching in 2025, BOXPARK will take over the iconic Floodgate Street Arches, sign a 15-year lease and invest around £5m in the area. The new venue is expected to create around 200 jobs and significantly increase footfall, furthering Digbeth’s reputation as a hub for culture, dining and entertainment.
Renowned for its diverse street food, independent traders and energetic events, BOXPARK’s Birmingham location focuses on showcasing local talent, offering opportunities for independent and established food operators as well as the region’s artists, creators and performers. On site, under four 12-meter-long, nearly 17,000-square-meter railway arches, is a dining room with about 10 kitchen units and four indoor bars on two floors. In addition, the design utilizes vaulted spaces to create an immersive atmosphere that includes social gaming such as shuffleboard and board games.
BOXPARK’s new site also has a generous 10,500 square meters of outdoor space for outdoor dining and events, providing a versatile area for both dining and entertainment. The approval of this development marks BOXPARK’s first venue in the Midlands and follows the success of its expansion into other major UK cities, including its first opening outside of London in Liverpool.
