The service is being offered through a new scheme launched by MP Sarah Sackman to improve access to justice for people in need.

The first Free Legal Advice Centre was held for residents in Childs Hill on March 22.

The event took place at the Jewish Vegetarian Society building in Golders Green. Volunteer lawyers offered support in areas such as housing, family, and employment law.

Ms Sackman said: “Access to justice should not be determined by how much money you have. I know from my own experience the importance of making legal aid accessible.”

Mia, a constituent who used the service, said: “This event was really helpful for me. I’ve been experiencing ongoing issues in a criminal case and having someone listen and explain all my options made a real difference.”

Moira, a criminal solicitor who volunteered, said: “It was very rewarding to be able to give back to the community. Many people don’t realise their rights and the options available to them.”

The MP said the pop-up centres would continue, with future sessions planned across the constituency.
