During the show, Sam and his family often posted on social media that only one side of the story was being told and that Sam was badly edited. Jenn even called her out on it during the “Men Tell All” episode. While Devin’s actions against Jenni revealed in the season finale don’t justify Sam’s bad behavior, they do make you wonder if there was more to the story when it came to her conflict with Devin. However, Sam used violent language when talking about Devin, saying that he would cut her in half and she would step on his neck.
Even though Devin hurt Jenni deeply, so did Sami. He didn’t listen to her feelings when he forced her to jump from the Auckland Sky Tower and he couldn’t explain to her why he loved her. Sam also told her that she thought Daisy Kent or Maria Georgas was the bachelor. Like Sam said, Devin turning out to be a villain doesn’t make Sam a good guy. However, it is definitely possible that Devin was one Bachelorette season 21 bad guys all the time, but he got a good edit because of the engagement.
