However, the show has lost some incredible singers along the way who deserve a chance to return to the competition. If American Idol season 22 had a Comeback Competition, it wouldn’t be the first time the show had America vote for someone to come back.

During American Idol in Season 18, the finalists had to perform from home after Hollywood Week due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following season featured a Comeback Competition where ten contestants from season 18 were allowed to compete to return to perform in front of a live audience as they were unable to do so during the pandemic.
