Alvanley Gardens was cordoned off by emergency services on January 29 after the knife incident at 4.28pm.

Members of the public stopped to assist police and paramedics to stabilise the 25-year-old man with serious stab injuries, reports our sister-site London Now.

He was then taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

However he died in hospital on Monday (February 9).

The victim has been named as Suleyman Nuh and his family are being supported by specialist officers.

On the day after the stabbing (January 30), officers arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Dylan Gan of Lithos Road was charged at the time with attempted murder, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and possession of a Class B drug.

Police have specified there is no reason to suggest this was a racially-motivated attack in a new appeal launched.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the area, said: “My thoughts remain with Suleyman’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.

“I am aware of concerns in the local community, but I would like to reassure people that this is believed to have been an isolated incident and there is no information at this time to suggest this was a racially-motivated attack.

“We have increased patrols in the local area and I would ask anyone with concerns to speak to my officers. A 21-year-old man has already been charged with attempted murder in connection with this incident.

“I want to express my thanks to the first responders, who were on the scene within minutes, and the members of the public who did everything they could to save Suleyman’s life. Their actions gave his family the opportunity to say goodbye.”

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 5195/29JAN or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
