From the Nuages ​​towers to the André-Malraux park and the Théâtre des Amandiers, Nanterre has architectural gems, beautiful green spaces and leading cultural places to discover to the west of the capital.

Futuristic and utopian architecture

On the banks of the Seine, in the heart of the Gennevilliers peninsula, Nanterre directly adjoins the La Défense business district. At the end of the 1950s, the creation of this large real estate complex on the outskirts of Paris gradually transformed the east of Nanterre, an industrial and residential suburban town. About ten minutes’ walk from the great glass heights of La Défense (RER A La Défense), the 18 towers called “Nuages” create a completely different universe in the Pablo-Picasso district. Labeled “Remarkable contemporary architecture”, they still bear witness to the major urban projects, built on slabs, which marked the Parisian suburbs to meet the housing needs of the time.
