A detail less known to the general public connects Romania to the opening ceremony of Winter Olympic Games Milan–Cortina 2026. Some of the athletes present at the event wore jackets made by a Romanian designer.

It is about Ilinca Lungudesigner working for Adidas, one of the most important sports brands in the world. For the Winter Olympics in Italy, Ilinca designed the jackets worn by Hungarian athletes at the official opening ceremony.

Who is Ilinca Lungu?

The information was made public by his father, the writer And Lunguwho talked about this special moment in a social media post:
“For me, the opening of the Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina is absolutely special. All these people are wearing jackets made by our Ilioara…”, he wrote.

Ilinca Lungu a completes London College of Fashion in 2020, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the field of fashion. Shortly after completing his studies, he started working for Adidas, where he works as a 3D designer, in a field at the border between creativity, technology and sports performance.

The passion for clothes appeared since childhood, as she herself told in a previous interview:
“I loved making doll clothes out of scraps. One of my fondest memories is emptying out Grandma’s closet with my cousin and doing a fashion show around the house. It was just a game then, but that was probably one of the key moments.”

Today, that childhood game has turned into an international career, and his work ends up being carried on the stage of one of the most watched sporting events in the world.

The Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are watched by millions of people globally, and Ilinca Lungu’s contribution represents a discreet but important Romanian presence in a global context.

“Thank you to everyone! I hope that one day I will make the costumes for Romania as well”, Ilinca Lungu said.
