Listen up, Londoners. I come bearing yet another item to add to the ever-growing list of reasons why our beloved city is so darn great. And today’s accolade comes courtesy of Tripadvisor. And more specifically, their annual Travellers’ Choice Awards.
Having had a good old rummage through the abundance of reviews and ratings left on the site last year, the highly-anticipated ‘Best of the Best 2025’ awards have been dished out by the travel platform. The global awards endeavor to uncover – you guessed it – the best of the best in the world of travel. And, let me tell you: at the rate things are going, London is going to need to invest in a bigger trophy cabinet.
The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards
There are five award categories in total – destinations, beaches, hotels, things to do, and restaurants. The top 25 spots in each category are given ‘Best of the Best’ status. And to put this into perspective for you – out of 8 million listings on Tripadvisor, less that 1% of them are awarded this coveted status. So, yes. It’s a pretty big deal.
One London locale that earned itself a seat at the ‘Best of the Best’ table is St. Ermin’s Hotel. Nestled at the end of a tree-lined courtyard in Westminster, this fancy four-star hotel was named among the very best. Not just in the country. But in the whole wide world.
St. Ermin’s Hotel
Located slap-bang in the middle of the capital, this stunning stately hotel was crowned the sixth best hotel on the planet. And the best in the UK. And considering that the very same hotel was only named seventh best in the UK in last year’s awards, it’s a pretty impressive achievement. Just a stone’s throw away from many legendary London landmarks, St. Ermin’s Hotel was praised for its beautifully designed rooms, its warm and friendly staff, its ‘top-notch service’, and its delicious food.
Like a lot of the capital’s oldest hotels, St. Ermin’s comes with a big old dollop of history. The Grade II listed building was originally constructed as a mansion block. It was converted into a hotel between 1896 and 1899. And, well – the rest is history really. The hotel became a pretty frequent and surreptitious meeting place for the British Intelligence services during World War II. And the hotel continues to ooze a little bit of mystery and intrigue to this very day.
A stay at St. Ermin’s Hotel will set you back around £400 a night (depending on when you wish to visit). But surely that’s a small price to pay to stay in the sixth best hotel in the worldright?
