What is ‘Unseen Experience’?

Sound is your greatest ally at ‘Unseen Experience’. You take your seat, slip on your blindfold and let the high-fidelity 3D spatial audio system plunge you into brand-new worlds. This season, you’re set aboard a train that transports you between two different moments in time. In the first, you’re a defector on the run in 1980 during the Cold War. The second: a survivor on the same train, only this time in a post-apocalyptic world some 100 years later where your fate is decided by your fellow passengers. It’s a 35-minute edge-of-your-seat experience that doesn’t just sound real, but it feels real too.

What makes blindfolded theatre and immersive experience: sound is more powerful than sight

British neurologist Oliver Sacks found that when sight is diminished, the brain essentially fills in the blanks by enhancing hearing and imagination and incorporating memory and emotion to paint a vivid picture in our minds. Sound isn’t just background noise, it’s the main vehicle for storytelling. This heightened interplay of sound, memory and imagination is at the heart of ‘Unseen Experience’, so you’re not just listening to the action, you’re a part of it.
