Last Epoch fans praise the developers for the game’s necromancer class, saying that “no ARPG since Diablo 2” has “truly captured the gameplay and essence” of Necromancers.
The last era had a difficult official launch, with reviews from players bombarding the title on Steam after server problems caused downtime. But despite the setbacks, there has been a lot of positivity for new ARPGs. Also asmongold, A longtime Blizzard fan gave his opinion, praising the “fluidity of the game”.
According to some players, there is actually one aspect of the game that Eleventh Hour Games has “nailed”: Necromancers.
“No ARPG since Diablo 2, with the exception of Grim Dawn, has truly captured the gameplay and essence of necromancy,” wrote the thread’s OP, and they weren’t the only players who felt that way.
Players praised the gameplay of Last Epoch’s Necromancer class, especially compared to D4.
“I always played a nerco class first. Finally someone who understood!” another agreed before the conversation turned to the elephant in the room – the current state of necromancers and druids in Diablo 4.
“D4 devs have no idea why people like minion builds,” lamented one user. Echoes a feeling shared by many class fans since the launch of Season of the Construct.
“Necro?” You mean bone witchcraft? joked another player, making light of the fact that Necromancers are more powerful in Diablo 4’s endgame without their skeletal underlings.
Minions release has been a major point of contention for Diablo 4 this season. There are complaints about the viability of classes like Necromancer and Druid, and the decision to dilute the main theme of the classes – by giving each their own companion, the Seneschal, in Season 3.
According to players, the flexibility of Last Epoch’s class system makes playing minions more fun.
Last Epoch offers a lot of flexibility for minion fans. There are several caster and summoner builds that players can experiment with, including Squirrel Beastmaster and Unlimited Wraiths Necromancer, just to name a few.
No one knows exactly how Last Epoch’s minion-based classes will hold up in upcoming patches. But for now, it seems like it’s a breath of fresh air for those who feel suffocated by Blizzard’s lack of commitment to spellcaster summoners in D4.
