Mighty Hoopla has added Cat Burns to its Sunday line-up for 2024. The Streatham-born singer joins the likes of Jessie Ware, Rita Ora and Alison Goldfrapp on Sunday June 2 at Brockwell Park.
Cat Burns rose to fame after her 2020 single Go gained popularity through TikTok, eventually reaching number two in the UK Singles Chart. Since then, Cat Burns has been nominated for three Brit Awards and won a Music Week Award.
The queer and neurodivergent singer cites Kirk Franklin, Anne-Marie, Destiny’s Child and Marvin Sapp as influences. Discussing her sound, she told The F-Word: “I would say it’s just pop with a cooler edge to it because obviously I’m influenced by so many different things.
“At first I wanted it to be…because I loved Ed Sheeran so much, I wanted it to be singer-songwriter-y and guitar-y and then when I found my own sound and what I wanted to do it was mainly just pop but I sing in my accent so it has that British feel but I only talk about things that are relatable and things that have happened to me or other people.”
Reacting to the news, which Mighty Hoopla shared on their Instagram, fans said “ooooft cracking addition” and “NO FREAKING WAY!!?!?!!?? Screaming in German. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for adding her!!! ”
