Bringing a taste of la dolce vita to the capital, the Italian-born star sailed through one of London’s most scenic spots aboard the ‘Domdola’ – Domino’s Venetian-inspired gondola.

But as he turned heads as he glided along the canal to mark the launch of Domino’s new Italianos range, he delivered more than just pizza.

Passers-by were also treated to a special moment as a surprise proposal took place on board the boat, securing an enthusiastic yes as Mei‑lei got down on one knee to propose to partner Sharna.

Vito Coppola said: “As an Italian, I take my pizza very seriously. So, if you’re going to bring a slice of Italy to the UK, you have to do it properly.

“Swapping the dancing shoes for a gondola was not something I thought I would be adding to my CV, but the range deserved a proper Italian welcome.”

After popping the question aboard the gondola, newly engaged Mei‑lei, said: “I was already planning to propose, but I never imagined it would happen like this.

“We were walking along the canals when we spotted Vito on the gondola and suddenly everything became magical.

“Being invited on board and popping the question with Vito cheering us on made it feel like something out of a film.

“I’m so happy she said yes.”

Izzy Gardener, from Domino’s, said: “We’ve always believed pizza should be an experience, not just a meal.

“Launching the Italianos range with Vito at the helm of the Domdola brings that to life, celebrating Italian flavour with thinner crusts and carefully chosen ingredients.

“What better way to mark the launch than with Domino’s, a gondola and TV’s favourite Italian.”
