Ellis-Bextor, best known for hits Murder on the Dancefloor and the Spiller collaboration Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), will take centre stage on August 29, at Harlow Town Park, performing as part of a weekend-long festival of entertainment.

Mills, who presents the weekday Radio 2 breakfast show, will spin discs on Friday, August 28.

The event marks the highly-anticipated return of the Harlow Town Show, a much-loved community celebration dating back to the 1960s.

The show grew throughout the 1970s and 80s, drawing tens of thousands of residents each year.

After a short revival in the 2000s, it now returns in blockbuster style as part of Harlow Council’s ‘Building Harlow’s Future’ programme to modernise the town’s events calendar.

The event is open to all and completely free to attend, including headline performances.

Cllr Dan Swords, leader of Harlow Council, said: “We promised to bring the Town Show back – bigger and better than ever – with major acts. I’m delighted to welcome Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Scott Mills to Harlow as part of this year’s Town Show.

“We promised that big names will return to Harlow and we are doing just that and there are more exciting acts to be announced as we Build Harlow’s Future.

“The Town Park will be packed with tens of thousands of residents enjoying big household names at the new Bandstand – reviving the tradition of high-quality, free concerts that families can enjoy together. This is just the beginning – we’re committed to returning the Town Show to its place as one of the standout events in the region as we Build Harlow’s Future.”

Ms Ellis-Bextor will perform on the Saturday evening, with a selection of warm-up acts set to take the stage earlier in the evening. Her career spans more than 25 years and includes five top-10 albums and eight top-10 singles.

The Harlow Town Show will run from August 28, to August 30, offering two and a half days of family entertainment, live music, showground attractions, and community activities.
