Aardman’s 50th anniversary celebrations continue
There’s already an Aardman exhibition that takes you inside the world of the famous animation studio running at the Young V&A, and now a new 360° immersive experience featuring Wallace & Gromit and more iconic characters has been announced. Larger Than Life: Starring Wallace & Gromit, Shaun and More, is opening at Lightroom in King’s Cross in the autumn.
It will combine famous cinematic moments with unseen Aardman archival content and new bespoke animations to tell the story of how the studio grew from the kitchen table where Peter Lord and David Sproxton first experimented to an Oscar-winning global phenomenon. Through state-of-the-art projections across Lightoom’s walls and floor, you’ll be able to see how the characters and scenes come to life, from scrap paper drawings to finished films, and how intricate sets and tiny props are used to craft creative animations.
Speaking about the experience, Aardman’s Nick Park, creator of Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Creature Comforts, said: “It’s a thrill to see Aardman’s worlds leap off the screen and into this spectacular immersive experience. From the very first sketches of Wallace & Gromit to the mischievous mayhem of Shaun the Sheep, these stories have always been about heart, hand-crafted detail, and a bit of a laugh. Now, fans can step inside Wallace’s invention shed or join Shaun and the Flock in a way that truly captures the tactile spirit of Aardman. It’s a wonderful new chapter for these characters, blending our stop-motion heritage with cutting-edge magic to bring everyone right into the center of the action.”
And this isn’t the only blockbuster exhibition Lightroom have planned for 2026 as a big David Bowie show is opening in April.
