The Almeida Theatre has announced a one‑week extension for A Doll’s Housethe modern adaptation of Ibsen’s domestic tragedy by Critics’ Circle Theatre Award‑winning playwright Anya Reiss.

Directed by Joe Hill‑Gibbins, the production will now run until Saturday 23 May, with tickets for the final week on sale from Monday 9 March at 1pm for Almeida Members and 5pm for the general public.

The cast features James Corrigan, Romola Garai, Olivier Huband, Tom Mothersdale and Thalissa Teixeira.

This new version by Anya Reiss revisits the story of Nora and Torvald, whose marriage begins to fracture when scandal threatens to upend their lives.

The production explores the themes of money, sex and power as Nora begins to renegotiate the terms of her relationship.

The play includes memorable lines from the script such as:
‘If I get run over tomorrow, how are you paying off the Amex?’
‘If you get run over tomorrow, I’ll fling myself in the road after you.’

Romola Garai returns to the Almeida following her Olivier Award‑winning performance in The Yearstaking on the role of Nora in this retelling of Ibsen’s subversive classic.

The creative team includes set design by Hyemi Shin, costume design by Alex Lowde, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Gareth Fry.

Jenny Ogilvie serves as collaborating director, with casting by Amy Ball CDG and assistant direction by Phillippe Cato.

A Doll’s House is supported by Dianne Roberts and The Charlotte Aitken Trust.
