Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded two major civil engineering contracts for the Downtown Line 2 extension (DTL2e), with a combined value of around S$735M. The packages cover the design and construction of two new stations — DE1 and the NS6/DE2 interchange — which form part of the three-station extension planned to improve rail connectivity in Singapore’s north-west.

The first contract, valued at around S$285M, has been awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd for the design and construction of the underground DE1 station, located along Sungei Kadut Avenue.

In addition to the station works, the package includes construction of a vehicular bridge to extend Choa Chu Kang North 7, and a pedestrian link-bridge over Pang Sua Canal. The structures are intended to improve connectivity between Yew Tee, the future DE1 station and the Rail Corridor.

The second contract, worth around S$450M, has been awarded to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Singapore Branch). The package includes the construction of the underground DE2 station on the Downtown Line and a connected aboveground NS6 station on the North-South Line, to be located between the existing Yew Tee and Kranji stations.

LTA said DE1 and the NS6/DE2 stations will be constructed concurrently, using Earth Retaining and Stabilising Structures (ERSS), due to complex ground conditions in the area — including the presence of hard granite.
