Camden Council has reached its goal of producing one hundred accessible employment opportunities in one hundred days.

The initiative is designed to help people who face the most significant barriers to work due to the recruitment process failing to meet their needs.

According to the council, the Camden 100 in 100 – Pave the Way scheme aims to support residents including refugees, care leavers, and those with disabilities, by providing access to apprenticeships, work experience placements, internships, or paid roles.

As part of the campaign, the council is working alongside the borough’s top employers, as well as local businesses and leading institutions, to create ‘high quality, ringfenced roles’ that allow for skills training and long-term career development.

In a statement last week, the council celebrated a ‘major milestone’ after meeting its goal of delivering one hundred accessible employment opportunities in one hundred days.

Cllr Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Culture and Young People, said: ‘In Camden, we believe everyone should have access to good, secure, well-paid work close to home.

‘That’s why we’re linking residents who need it most with the borough’s leading institutions right on their doorstep, creating routes into key industries that offer a first step into a new career, develop valuable skills and support long-term stability and independence.

‘Achieving one hundred pledges in one hundred days shows the commitment of our fantastic and varied local businesses, each playing their part in building a fairer, more inclusive workforce.’
