Series 15 of the popular drama will soon be coming to an end, with just a few more episodes to go.

But tonight (February 22), the show is “missing” from its usual 8pm spot on BBC One.

It’s been replaced by one of the biggest awards ceremonies of the year, which honours the best British and international contributions to film and television.

Why is Call the Midwife not on TV tonight? BBC schedule change explained

Call the Midwife has been removed from Sunday’s TV schedule as the BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) will be taking place instead.

Hosted by American Traitors star Alan Cumming, the BAFTAs held at the Royal Festival Hall at London’s Southbank Centre, will begin at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer this evening.

Just some of the nominated films this year include Sinners, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and I Swear.

There will also be music performances by Jessie Ware, and EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, who are the singing voices from KPop Demon Hunters.

It will be their first UK performance since the Netflix hit was released.

Call the Midwife confirmed the programme shake-up in a post published on its official Instagram account, following the previous episode.

It said: “ANNOUNCEMENT!

“As in previous years, we’ll be taking a short break next Sunday while the BAFTA Film Awards are shown live on BBC1

“But we will be back with you in TWO WEEKS TIME for episode 7!!

“Call the Midwife Series 15 continues Sunday 1st March at 8pm on BBC1 xx.”

In the comments section, one impatient fan responded: “I don’t think I can cope with the wait.”

Another complained: “For gods sake why can’t it be in bbc2.”

A user agreed: “Not happy with that, why can’t they put the baffles on a different channel?”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “I thought we’d escape the baftas interruption this year.”

This viewer chimed in: “Ahh thats not fair!”

One account sharing their opinion replied: “Nooooooo don’t want the BAFTAS I want CTM on instead!!!”

When is Call the Midwife next on TV?

Sadly, it means fans will have to wait an extra week to watch the next instalment of the BBC show, which will next air on March 1 from 8pm.

Teasing episode seven, the summary reveals: “A cohort of junior doctors join the midwives on their district rounds, including Timothy Turner, while Violet turns her hand to midwifery.”
