If you’re looking for an escape from the winter, the Barbican Arts Centre includes London’s second-largest heated conservatory, and it’s totally free to visit.
The conservatory wraps around the huge fly tower that supports scenery for the theatre beneath your feet, and while the Barbican’s concrete is still very evident, it adds to the overall effect. Imagine a city centre abandoned by humans and overrun by plants, and that’s what you are walking through when you visit.
It’s a dystopian filmmaker’s paradise.
The Barbican releases tickets roughly monthly for their open days, and with a few evenings left this month, they have also released tickets for visits in March.
At the time of writing, tickets are available for:
- Sun 1st March from 12.00pm – 5.00pm
- Fri 6th March from 6.30pm – 9.30pm
- Sat 7th March from 12.00pm – 5.00pm
- Sun 8th March from 12.00pm – 5.00pm
- Fri 20th March from 6.30pm – 9.30pm
- Sat 21st March from 12.00pm – 5.00pm
- Sun 22nd March from 12.00pm – 4.00pm
