Oakfield Bakery in Crouch End was recently named in a list by The Sunday Times, highlighting the best micro bakeries around the UK.

The Sunday Times looked at the small businesses that have an interesting story to tell and a “real connection to the place they are from”.

A new term to many, a micro bakery refers to a tiny bakery with little staff, according to the Real Bread Campaign.

You can see the full list of Britain’s must-visit micro bakeries via The Sunday Times.

Inside the ‘seriously delicious’ micro bakery in London

Oakfield Bakery is run by couple, Isabel and Euan, from their flat in Crouch End, using their spare room as its own workshop.

The converted space features everything a baker needs, such as worktops, a fridge, a mixer, a laminator, and a bread oven.

Oakfield Bakery always used the best ingredients, with flour from Shipton Mill and Hodmedods, butter from Estate Dairy and eggs from Fenton Farm.

Sharing why the Crouch End bakery made the list, The Sunday Times wrote: “Euan Griffiths and Isabel Benson are the baker couple behind this micro bakery in Crouch End, with a regular stall at Stroud Green Market every Sunday.

“Alongside the customary pains au chocolat and croissants, there are fun Canadian-inspired maple and pecan bear claws, bacon and chilli jam swirls and Swiss chard and feta pastry rolls.”

Every Sunday from 10am till 2.30pm, you can find Oakfield Market at Stroud Green Market selling pastries, sourdough, and seasonal products.

Market items include Oakfield sourdough, brioche loaf, croissant loaf, pain au chocolat, croissant, cinnamon bun, cheddar cheese scones, spinach and feta roll, and maple pecan bear claw.

On Google Reviews, a buyer from the bakery wrote: “Seriously delicious baked goods from our lovely neighbours!

“Well-balanced sweetness, creative menu with monthly variations”.

Another customer said, “An absolutely fantastic micro bakery, everything Euan and Isabel produce is delicious.
