A vintage train pulled into a platform on a snowy day

It’s not particularly unusual for you to find me over here waxing lyrical about London’s trusty transport offerings. From tubes and trams to buses and bikes; I’m a big fan of the handy little things that whizz us around our city. But my transport-related ramblings rarely come in the form of news as rail-y great as this.

Steam Dreams are mere moments away from decking the halls of their hugely popular Santa Steam Express. The gorgeous vintage train will be chugging back into London soon, ready for another year of spreading Christmas cheer by the carriage-load.

The Santa Steam Express

Hauled by the iconic 61306 Mayflower (a 1948 steam train that looks like it’s been plucked straight from the pages of a storybook); passengers will be able to hop aboard the legendary locomotive and embark on an enchanting ninety-minute train ride.

Santa and his loyal bunch of elves will be on hand to provide the fun-filled festive entertainmentwith interactive storytelling and singing aplenty. This year, there will be a travelling theatre on board that’ll be bringing the magic of the North Pole to life. Every adult will have the chance to tuck into a mince pie and a hot drink, whilst every child will receive a gift, an activity pack, a snack, a drink, and magical memories to last a lifetime.

With three different classes to (choo choo) choose from, there’s something to suit everyone. There’s coach class, club class, and plush private compartments that seat up to size passengers. Prices start from £55 per personand the train rides will be running at selected times from December 20 to December 22.

Spaces are limited and they do tend to sell out pretty quickly. So, you better watch out, you better not cry, you better… just book your tickets as soon as you can. After all, it is the most wonderful time of the year and the Santa Steam Express sounds like a total Christmas sleigh.

Find out more and book your ticket here.
