This year marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Defence Attachés and Advisors were joined by representatives from the Malaysian Armed Forces, Malaysian Veterans’ Associations, and representatives of local societies and schools, in honouring service personnel and civilians who served their countries in both World Wars and other armed conflicts.

The service began with a performance by The International School @ Park City.

Speaking at the Remembrance Day Service, British High Commissioner Ajay Sharma CMG said:

Remembrance is a moment to pause, to reflect on the immense courage and sacrifice of those who served in times of war and conflict, and to honour them. As we mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War, we remember not only the fallen, but also the resilience of communities and those engaged in the enduring pursuit of peace that followed. It is a time to stand together in gratitude, to learn from the past, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to a peaceful future.

The service continued with a performance of ‘In Flanders Fields’, by The International School @ Park City, reading of ‘The Soldier by Rupert Brooke’ by Maj Gen (Rtd.) Dato’ Zulkiflee bin Mazlan and ‘Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owe’ by Lt Col (Rtd.) Raymond Goh. UK Defence Advisor at the British High Commission, Colonel James Green OBE then did a reading of the ‘For the Fallen by Robert Laurence Binyon’.

After observing two minutes of silence in respect of the fallen heroes, the ceremony ended with the traditional laying of wreaths at the base of the Cross, a solemn tribute to those who gave their lives in the name of peace.

Remembrance Day is held on the second Sunday of each November.
