London Eye lit up in red and green for Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday falls this weekend (November 9) with Armistice Day (November 11) falling on the following Tuesday, and you’ll notice many of London’s landmarks honouring those who lost their lives in battle throughout this week.

On both occasions, the London Eye will be lighting up in red and green to resemble the look of a poppy designand a look to London’s skyline at nightfall on both days will allow you to see the pods illuminated in the stunning colours. With the daylight hours growing shorter following the clocks going back an hour, it’s certain to be a welcome glow in the centre of the city, beaming out for miles in the poppy decor.

Those who are present at the London Eye on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day will be invited to join the surrounding crowd in a two-minute silence to honour both occasions.

It follows an annual tradition at the London Eye, which lights up each year to mark Remembrance Day in the capital. Across the city, you’ll also be able to see tributes to the days, with TfL adorning a number of roundels across stations and kitting out selected buses in poppy decoration.

You can see the light display from one of London’s most iconic landmarks on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day both this weekend and next week, marking both occasions and paying tribute to those who have passed on in battle. Every year on Armistice Day, the UK observes a two-minute silence.
