A mock up image of the front fo the new Market Place coming to Leicester Square

It seems as though London is taking somewhat of a ‘more the merrier’ approach when it comes to its food hall offering. And look, we’re certainly not complaining about it. Despite there already being plenty of places to head to in the capital if you fancy stuffing your face with some seriously scrumptious street foodwe’re always willing to budge up and make room for another one. Because we Londoners are nice like that, you see?

The newest food hall on the block is set to arrive in London this December in the form of a five storey foodie paradise. It’ll be the latest member of the much-loved Market Place family (so we already know it’s going to be good), and will be plonking itself in the middle of Leicester Squareready to – quite literally – level up London’s food hall scene.

Market Place

The food market moguls over at Market Place have been filling the rumbling tummies of Londoners and beyond since they opened their very first food hall back in 2020. Since then, they’ve gone from strength to strength, earning themselves a decent (and oh-so delicious) reputation across the capital. They now have four fun-filled food halls scattered across the city (St Paul’s, Vauxhall, Peckham, and Harrow), and are mere months away from opening their fifth venue. The new West End eatery will be Market Place’s flagship siteand it’s set to be ‘one of the largest and most ambitious food hall experiences the UK has seen’. Blimey.

Market Place Leicester Square

The rather sizeable new site will span five floors, boasting sixteen kitchens (yes, really), three dessert counters (because, why not?), and – of course – three bars. There’s not been any specific traders announced yet. But based on Market Place’s other venues, we can assume that there’ll be some of London’s best-loved traders on hand, dishing up a selection of delicious dishes from across the globe.

Alongside the food, Market Place Leicester Square will also be serving up plenty of entertainment, too. There will be a dedicated events space with a big screen to show the biggest sporting and cultural events. There will also be a private dining room available to rent, and an impressive programme of events, featuring the likes of comedy, live music, and DJ sets.

Blake HendersonManaging Director at Market Place Food Hallssaid: “We started Market Place with one neighbourhood site in Peckham and in a few short years it has grown across the city. Leicester Square is the biggest leap forward yet. It is one of the most famous squares in the world and we are proud to bring our biggest Market Place yet right to the heart of the West End… This flagship is everything Market Place stands for. Incredible food, great drinks, live entertainment and a space where Londoners and visitors can celebrate together.”

Market Place Leicester Square will be setting up shop at some point in December at 20–21 Leicester Square, WC2H 7JX. Find out more about Market Place and their other venues here.
