The Nutcracker is one of the world’s most famous ballets, and we’re lucky to live in London where The Nutcracker returns each Christmas to delight families in the run up to the festive period.

With The Nutcracker tickets going on sale today — and they always sell out — here’s everything you need to know to get your hands on them.

When you think of Christmas, what shows come to mind? Pantomimes like Jack and the Beanstalk? A Christmas Carol? For us, it’s Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

This two-act ballet is set in Edwardian London, and it transports audiences to Christmas Eve where Clara and her mum are shopping at Drosselmeyer’s Emporium of Sweets and Delights. It’s here that Clara encounters an unusual Nutcracker doll which will take her on a journey that involves defending her home from the Rat King and discovering a mystical ice realm.
