Merchant Square unveils stellar movie lineup featuring mix of feel-good classics and beloved favourites

The popular outdoor cinema at Paddington Basin is back for another summer of free entertainment, with six evening screenings scheduled from July through September. Located next to the picturesque canal in the heart of West London, Merchant Square’s Big Screen offers the perfect blend of cinema magic and al fresco dining under the stars.

Taking place every Wednesday evening, the screenings offer the perfect mid-week escape for West Londoners looking to unwind after work.

This year’s carefully curated lineup offers the perfect mix of feel-good classics and beloved favourites, catering to both family audiences and romantic evenings out:

  • Wednesday 16th July – Wonka (PG), 6pm
  • Wednesday 23rd July – Dirty Dancing (PG-13), 6pm
  • Wednesday 13th August – Mamma Mia (PG-13), 6pm
  • Wednesday 20th August – The Princess Diaries (12), 6pm
  • Wednesday 17th September – A Star is Born (15), 6pm
  • Wednesday 24th September – Moana 2 (PG), 6pm

Families can enjoy Wonka, The Princess Diaries and Moana 2, whilst couples seeking the perfect date night can catch A Star is Born, Mamma Mia and Dirty Dancing under the stars.

The free screenings require no advance booking – simply arrive and claim a deckchair or bring a picnic blanket to enjoy the films in comfort. Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic to eat al fresco during the screening, or grab food to go from nearby shops and restaurant, including The Lockhouse and Pizza Express. Street food from Merchant Square Food Markets will also be available, along with refreshing drinks.

“These Wednesday evening screenings are perfect for meeting friends or family after work and breaking up the week with something special in our unique, picturesque canalside location,” said Echo Pan, Events Manager at Merchant Square. “As part of our summer series of free events, we’re passionate about bringing the community together and creating experiences that everyone can enjoy.”

For West Londoners seeking a memorable, cost-free night out, the Merchant Square outdoor cinema remains the premier destination for summer entertainment in Paddington.
