London is no stranger to an animal art trail, having welcomed penguins, elephants, gorillas and more to stand around the city and provide a lovely photo opportunity alongside a chance to learn about conservation around the world. This summer, a trail of turtle sculptures by Tusk will be scattered around the cityraising awareness for marine life through many beautifully designed pieces.

After success with their rhino, gorilla, and lion trails, Tusk will run the sculptures of turtles through the city throughout July and Augustbefore the designs are auctioned for the funds towards the charity work they carry out in October.

Tusk Turtle Trail

Each sculpture along the trail has both its own unique tale and its own designer. You’ll be able to view pieces from the likes of the Rolling Stones guitarist and Tusk ambassador Ronnie Wood, among others from the world of art, music, television, and theatre, with each turtle designed and painted by them. The trail is curated by Christ Westbrook of Westbrook Gallery, and aims to draw attention to the crucial role played by turtles in marine wildlife, and the ocean at large’s role in slowing climate change.

You’ll be able to follow the trail around prime London locations like Covent Garden and Carnaby Street through the downloadable map which includes an interactive experience for all. Each sculpture has a QR code where you can learn more about the design, the story, and the work Tusk carries out, as well as being invited to donate funds to the charity.

Nick Bubb, CEO of Tusk, said: “Marine turtles have navigated our oceans for over 100 million years, yet six out of seven species are now threatened with extinction. From entanglement in fishing gear to plastic pollution and rising sea levels, human activity has decimated turtle populations across the globe.

“The aim of our Turtle Trail is to inspire collective action to celebrate and protect one of the most ancient and endangered marine species. Tusk is proud to champion marine projects in some of Africa’s most vulnerable coastal communities. Proceeds from the Turtle Trail’s beautiful sculptures will go directly to their vital work.”

Look out for the turtle art trail by Tusk in London through July and August, and read more about the charity here.
