Now I’m not sure if you’ve noticed (because we Brits never like to make a big deal about the weather), but the sun has actually been shining in London this week. Which is something that – during the darkest depths of winter – I never thought was going to happen again.
At this very moment, if you listen carefully enough, you might just hear the faint sound of Londoners slapping on their sunscreen, and hurtling towards their nearest Tesco for a disposible barbecue. And for good reason. Because this weekend (March 8 and 9), London is going to be hotter than Marbella. Yes, you read that correctly.
According to the weather-aficionados over at AccuWeather, whilst Marbella will be floating around the 14°C/15°C mark all weekend; our lovely capital city will be basking in the beauty of a rather balmy 17°C. Can you believe it? I know there’s not a great deal in it, but when you’ve spent the past six months wearing approximately 12 layers to bed each night; every single degree counts.
Could this mark the end of the wintery-est winter that’s ever winter-ed? In a nutshell: no. Unfortunately, normal service will resume next week, so enjoy the sunshine whilst it lasts, my friends. If you need me, you’ll find me squished into the only corner of my patio that gets any direct sunlight, uploading Instagram stories captioned ‘Costa del Clapham‘.
