Last week, London’s Ramadan lights display was switched on to mark the beginning of Ramadan. This year marked the third year for the stunning light display, which is organized each year by the Aziz Foundation and the Ramadan Lights London group. They’ll be twinkling overhead and spreading cheer and Ramadan wishes in the West End throughout the month of celebration. But for the first time, this year’s Ramadan lights have a new addition: an Iftar food trail.

The ‘Ramadan Delights’ food trail takes visitors on a “halal-friendly, gastronomic journey through the city’s vibrant West End.” Along the way, diners can enjoy “exclusive discounts, special menus, and complimentary treats at some of the area’s most popular eateries.” Ranging across the West End’s broad food offerings, the Iftar food trail includes everything from American comfort food to Middle Eastern mezze and more.

Said Rahima Aziz BEM, Trustee at the Aziz Foundation:

“The launch of ‘Ramadan Delights’ is an exciting step forward in making Ramadan a more visible and celebrated part of the city’s cultural calendar. Businesses are such an important part of the community, so it was important for us to grow our Ramadan Lights London initiative this year by involving them in this trail. There aren’t just social and cultural benefits – there are economic benefits too. When people visit the lights, they now have a great resource and can easily break their fast. It’s about bringing communities together through food, generosity, and shared experiences, making the spirit of Ramadan accessible to everyone.”

Visitors are advised to double-check with individual restaurants about their halal-specific dishes before dining.
