The Cabbage Patch pub in Twickenham with a giant rugby ball on its roof

We’re mere moments away from the kick-off of this year’s Six Nations. And across the capital, Londoners are beginning to scope out the spots in which they plan to spend the next two months sinking pints and shouting at a TV screen. But with a whole host of London venues screening the action, it’s pretty hard to pick a pub to plonk yourself down in, right?

Well, what if I told you that the most famous rugby pub in the whole world is actually right here in our capital city? Surely that’ll make the decision a little bit easier for you. Admittedly, the title is self proclaimed – but until someone else makes a bid for it, the crown will stay comfortably perched upon the head of The Cabbage Patch pub in Twickenham.

Located just a hop, skip, and a jump drop-kick away from the iconic Twickenham Stadium; The Cabbage Patch is the ultimate destination for rugby-enthusiasts (and those of us who have never watched a match in our life, but will enthusiastically take up any opportunity to spend an afternoon in the pub). With an atmosphere as hearty as its food, an impressive offering of local ales and beersplenty of seating, and – of course – plenty of screens; it’s the perfect spot to spend game-day – so close to the stadium, you can practically hear the chants and the cheers of the fans.

The pub is named in honour of the the grounds on which Twickenham Stadium was built upon. Having previously been used as a patch to grow cabbages and other vegetables, the stadium is affectionately known as the Cabbage Patch. With rugby memorabilia and signed shirts adorning the walls, and regular sightings of rugby players and club members; there’s surely no better place to get stuck in to the Six Nations than at the most famous rugby pub in the world.

You’ll find The Cabbage Patch at 67 London Road, Twickenham, TW1 3SZ. Find out more and plan your visit here.
