Married at first sight Season 18’s Michelle Tomblin is called a “liar” fans made her husband David Trimble look worse than he is. Michelle got a superficial positive opinion of David when he said yes to her at the altar, but it quickly evaporated when she found out that he lived in a unit in his parents’ house and smoked cigarettes. From there, Michelle noticed more disparaging things about David, such as the way he dresses, talks and communicates, but calls him problematic.

Started a thread on reddit u/dumbass-Study7728who criticized Michelle for her attitude and calculated attacks on David.

“Michelle lies to make David look worse in the eyes of others,” the thread caption read.

They brought up Michelle’s hostility towards David’s one-month anniversary dinner outfit and her reaction to David’s mistakenly sending it to Michelle. “You look so good I could eat you.” Other Married at first sight fans jumped into the comments thread to point out how Michelle is lying about David or embellishing situations and trying to control the story of their marriage.

What does it mean for MAFS fans to call Michelle a liar

Michelle is the villain, not David

Michelle tries so hard to make David look bad for their marriage, it actually has the opposite effect MAFS fans turn against him. Michelle’s exaggerations about her troubles with David make viewers feel sorry for David and see Michelle as the villain of the season. David seems to be trying to explain himself, his background, and his future prospects to Michelle, but she just wants to see his explanations as inadequate and paint him as the bad guy.

“Respectfully, David has been extremely patient throughout this experience. He has been very flexible and he has been insufferable and dismissive of her. He has not even tried to see who she would be as a partner and is completely committed to the experience.”

Michelle’s constant nagging and criticism of David is off-putting and that’s how fans see it.

Now, when Michelle complains about David’s actions or what he says, she has become unbelievable because she only seems to put David down and make herself look better.

Married at first sight Michelle has been disliked by viewers since she reacted dismissively to David, but he has moved beyond his negative reception from fans speaking ill of David when it is not justified.

Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
