As expected, Ellie and Bri owned Joe, leading to a nasty war between them. Their working relationship crumbled, and their personal drama eventually affected their performance so much that it nearly cost them their jobs. Meanwhile, Joe didn’t take responsibility for his role in the mess. While Ellie and Bri fought to save their careers, Joe escaped unscathed.

Ellie and Bri eventually realized that Joe was playing them both and tried to put the drama behind them. Their relationship would never be the same, and they never gave up on their search for Joe, who by that point had moved on with Carrie. His continued playboy behavior shows that he had little remorse for the destruction he caused on the ship.

This is behavior that Sandy didn’t tolerate in Joe’s first season, and she won’t tolerate it when he returns.

Joe was not a remarkable deckhand or particularly passionate about his work. Sandy was not the driving force behind his acting performance, which raises suspicions that Joe’s performance is secondary to his ability to create chaos.
