From Michael Ilesanmi 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? recently posted an Instagram Story reacting to the TikTok ban in the US. He immigrated to America in December 2023 on a spousal visa sponsored by his American wife Angela Deem. Although they had been together for seven years, their relationship was plagued by trust issues stemming from Michael’s previous cheating scandals. Angela even banned Michael from using social mediabeing afraid of flirting with other women online. Regardless, Michael finally returned to social media in May 2024, two months after he ran away from Angela’s house.

Over the past eight months, Michael has been trying to capitalize on his reality TV fame and become a famous influencer on social media. However, one major social media platform, TikTok, is banned in the United States as of January 19, 2025.

This ban can bring more challenges Michael in his quest to become an online celebrity. Over time, Michael has published more than 40 videos and gathered more than 230,000 followers on the platform. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic and focuses on the positives. In response to the TikTok ban, Michael recently sent a message saying “Insta & Facebook what’s up” accompanied by a picture of a crying man face.

What Michael’s reaction to the TikTok ban means for his career

TikTok had a million views on TikTok

Michael has not had a steady, full-time job for the past seven years because Angela didn’t want him to be social and possibly betray her. She was the one who offered him the money they earned from participating in the program to help him pay his bills. However, Michael wanted to use his fame to become a well-known online celebrity. At one point, he created an Instagram account and demanded $5,000 from Angela to take it down. After leaving Angela, she was able to create profiles on various social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

It’s unfortunate that Michael couldn’t continue using TikTok after moving to the US. During the past year, he had gained 229,000 followers on the platform with almost a million views. She enjoys sharing dance videos on TikTok as well as the occasional lip sync video. The 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? alum seems to be disappointed with the ban. However, his reaction shows it he is not too worried about losing his potential livelihood. Unlike some other actors, Michael is trying not to complain about the ban and seems eager to become an active content creator on Instagram and Facebook.

Michael may find the road to career success challenging

Michele is a man of few words. Although she hasn’t shown much sadness over the ban, she might be disappointed because she had recently started creating content for her TikTok followers and making money. Becoming a TikTok influencer was one of his biggest dreams, so the ban may have put obstacles in his path to a successful career. He may now be worried about the loss of income from other social media platforms as well. Hopefully, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? alum is refocusing on social media platforms and moving on from TikTok.
