Children’s baking championship season 13 saw a shock at the judges table for the first time when Valerie Bertinelli was fired from the show and then replaced by Kardea Brown, and I hope the fans who vowed not to watch because of it will change their minds because Kardea is already doing phenomenal work. Children’s baking championship debuted in 2015 with Valerie and Duff Goldman as hosts and judges. They worked together for 12 seasons and several specials until Valerie was replaced in season 13.

Children’s baking championship season 13 is Animal themed and features 12 of the best children’s bakers from the US and Canada. After watching the first episode, I hope disgruntled fans will stop boycotting the show and actually watch Kardea because she is a great host and judge. This is why he deserves a chance.

Why was Valerie Bertinelli fired from the children’s baking championship?

The Food Network blamed budget cuts for Valerie’s firing

In January 2024 Valerie broke the shocking news that she had been fired Children’s baking championship. His cooking show, Valerie’s home cookinghad been canceled the previous year after 14 seasons. This was despite Valerie winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Host for that show, and Valerie’s home cooking won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Program.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows you can stream or watch right now.

In a since-deleted Instagram post in January 2024 Valerie explained that she was told that the reason she was fired Children’s baking championship there were budget cuts. He admitted that it really hurt his feelings, and what made him sad the most was that he couldn’t tell everyone who worked on the show what they meant to him. Valerie also said she filmed Children’s baking championship in season 12 in the summer of 2022, when she was going through her divorce from ex-husband Tom Vitale. At the time, he pretended everything was fine, but he said the show saved his life.

Fans of the Kids’ Baking Championship were outraged by Valerie Bertinelli’s firing and vowed not to watch

Fans said they would boycott the Kids’ Baking Championship

When Food Network shared clip by user Children’s baking championship season 13 on Instagram, I was shocked that many fans expressed in the comments section that they would not watch the show without Valerie. I loved watching Valerie on the show, but I wouldn’t want to stop watching because she was replaced. However, others felt very strongly about boycotting the show.

One fan stated, “No Valerie. No look,” while another expressed, “I’m not watching anymore. I think the Food Network did Valerie wrong.” Another fan said: “It’s a shame it’s not Valerie. You should listen to your viewers. I won’t watch without Val again.” A fan asked why Valerie was told she was fired Children’s baking championship due to budget cuts, but was replaced by another judgewriting, “Shame you got rid of Valerie and it was reported due to budget cuts, but I see you hired someone else! shame shame.”

Other people really miss Valeria, but they also like Kardea. They wrestle with their mixed feelings. One wrote, “Kardea is great, but I miss Val” when another said “I love Kardea, but Valerie not being on the show anymore is wrong.” I understand their feelings and I hope the fans will still watch Children’s baking championship.

Kardea Brown did an amazing job in Episode 1 of Kids’ Baking Championship

Kardea is a caring and knowledgeable judge

Before Children’s baking championship season 13 episode 1 aired, I wonder if Kardea could bring the same motherly energy to the show which Valerie did. At 37, Kardea is significantly younger than Valerie, who is 64. I loved watching Valerie praise the baker kids when they did a great job, and I cried when she comforted them when their baking went wrong.

I had already seen Kardea Children’s baking championship holiday-themed reunion specials, “Sweets-Giving,” “Reindeer Games,” “Scary Good,” and “Frosting the Snowman,” and I liked him in them.so I was hoping he would impress me in the main event as well. I also knew that Kardea started her career in children’s social services, so she has experience working with children.

As I watched Children’s baking championship season 13 episode 1, I was happy and relieved to see Kardea fit into the series. He has a great camaraderie with Duff, who he has worked with before Spring baking championship. However, What impressed me most about Kardea was the way she warmly welcomed the children.

Kardea had a very sweet way of interacting with childrenwhich showed that he knew how to talk to them on their level without talking down to them. Kardea brought out the best Children’s baking championship season 13 contestant Micah, who opened up to her about his life and was apparently very comfortable with her (shared in the clip above Food Network Instagram page).

However, I was especially touched when Kardea comforted me Children’s baking championship season 13 contestant Carly when she got upset when her pie crust didn’t bake right. Kardea not only kindly explained what went wrong and advised him, but also hugged him. Carly immediately calmed down and was able to complete the challenge.

In addition, as contestant Elvie cried when she was eliminated Children’s baking championshipKardea came out from behind the judge’s table and asked if she could hug him. I’m very happy that Kardea was so quick to take on the same role that Valerie played, because children need someone who can calm them down during stressful challenges. I think she was the perfect choice to host and judge the show alongside Duff.

Kardea Brown deserves a chance

Kardea is very qualified to be the host and judge of the children’s baking championship

Although I am a huge fan of Valerie and I thought she was lovely Children’s baking championship Judge, I wanted to give Kardea a chance and I’m so glad I did. Kardea is a skilled cook who is best known as the host of her own Food Network show, Delicious Miss Brown. In October 2022, he published his first cookbook, Journey home. Kardea has also served as a judge Spring baking championship and Holiday Wars.

Therefore, Kardea is highly qualified a Children’s baking championship host and judge. I wish people would give her a chance instead of immediately writing her off as Valerie’s replacement. It’s not fair to him for fans to take their hatred of the Food Network out on him. While I’ll admit it’s odd that the network cited budget cuts as the reason Valerie was fired, but then hired someone else, that’s not Kardea’s fault. Maybe he is paid less than Valerie, or maybe there was more to the story. If the fans were listening Children’s baking championship in season 13, then they would know that Kardea was the ideal choice to replace Valerie.

I also hope the fans know that Valerie holds no grudge against Kardea. 4.11.2024 during the period The Drew Barrymore ShowKardea and Valerie both appeared. Valerie acknowledged Kardea and praised him by saying that Children’s baking championship is now in great hands. Then they realized how much they loved the kids on the show.

My best wishes to everyone who chose not to watch Children’s baking championship season 13, since Valerie was fired, would give Kardea a chance. I hope they warm to him and accept him as a host and judge because he is already doing such an exceptional job. He had big shoes to fill under difficult circumstances, but he rose to the occasion. I hope Kardea gets the love and respect she deserves by joining the Kids Baking Championship.

Children’s baking championship airs Mondays at 8pm EST on the Food Network.
