Married at first sight Star Emem Obot is so frustrated with her husband Ikechi Ojoré that she goes on a verbal rampage which might make her look like a villain but really, there are valid reasons why he is so mad at her. Tantrums aren’t usually a good look for reality stars, but who hasn’t lost their temper with someone? No one has remained calm throughout life.

When Emem expresses himself on screen, it’s because he’s been provoked so much that he just can’t take it anymore. Therefore, he deserves sympathy, not condemnation.

Married at first sight season 18 features a whole new crop of mismatched couples, and experts Dr. Pia Holec, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Reverend Cal Roberson have some explaining to do. Although the series has never had the best success rate, largely because marrying complete strangers is too much pressurethe methods used by experts to match pairs could be slightly adapted. It seems like the couples are being put together to stir up drama on screen, not for actual compatibility.

Experts have failed Ememi

She needed a more passionate man

Normally, if the system doesn’t work, the person tries new things to get a better result. While the expert coin could do this, as the devastating match between Emem and Ikechi shows, the joints don’t really hit the mark. Emem is living a waking nightmare with her new husband – it’s an eternity of fairytale romance. She’s paired with a guy who thinks she is too “aggressive.” When he says things like this, it’s like waving a red flag in front of a raging bull.

It’s like telling someone who is already very upset to “relax”. It’s pure provocation.

The key to unlocking true romantic happiness is simply appreciation. If someone starts by criticizing their partner’s personality like Okechi did when he said he prefers the gentle southern style, he is playing with fire. There is no foundation to build on – the romance is not structurally sound. It’s a castle built on sand with the tide coming in.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows you can stream or watch right now.

Of course, he’s not perfect. Emem is impatient and wants perfection from her partner too early. He really doesn’t understand her he’s the kind of man who really doesn’t like conflict. There are people who like to fight. They might even like people to come forward just so they can fight them. They can also enjoy makeup.

Okechi is not like this. He really hates being verbally attacked. To make things work, he needs to tone down his remarks and behavior. Her bold style just rubs her the wrong way. In fact, it makes him sad. When she criticized his answers during the chat, it pushed him away. He didn’t want to be around her for a while. Both took up each other’s space, but as hotheads do, Emem soon wanted more fighting or trying to smooth things over. He didn’t respond to her messages.

This resulted in a nasty meltdown that was almost volcanic in intensity. Of course it was the feisty Emem who lost it and called her cheating partner a “clown” who appeared wearing a “joker costume.” It’s not the kind of dialogue one hears in a syrupy rom-com or Disney love story. That’s because this type of unbridled honesty leads to hurt feelings…emotional wounds can fester.

While every couple fights, the fact that things are so heated early on makes their bickering seem more like the death throes of an ill-conceived marriage. This isn’t a typical argument – it’s personality differences that are serious. They don’t get on the same page.

Nothing is certain about the fate of the couple – there are spoilers, but they have not been proven yet. For those who like an element of suspense, it’s possible that the couple could pull it off, but it’s highly unlikely. He doesn’t want to “aggressive” partner – he does not want to be ignored. They operate at different emotional temperatures, and there’s an important element missing between them that might cause the outspoken Ememi to balance out her gentler partner.

Lack of attraction can destroy this marriage

Something is missing

The problem is probably a lack of traction. There is no in love quality. Some of their relationships are interesting, and both try in very different ways, but it’s not nearly enough. If this truly romantic quality existed, Okechi wouldn’t tell his wife that he preferred women with softer personalities. It was a declaration of war. Things like this are hard to come back from and he’s mature enough to know exactly what he’s doing.

Likewise, when he didn’t respond to messages, it was a power play. Of course, since they are being filmed, they will interact again. So what was the point of the ghost pictures. It was about power—showing his partner that he wasn’t willing to boss her around. Also, knowing from his texts that he was so emotional, it was also cruel. Yes, he had gone too far, but they should be husband and wife.

Small power games destroy relationships. Is a person who makes a weak power play stronger than someone who doesn’t? Relationships are complicated, especially in Married at First Sight, so there are no easy answers. The truth is, some couples are just doomed from the start. No matter what they do, they are wired so differently that peace is almost impossible. In such cases, throwing in the towel is the only way to reset. Both can try again or just relax as singles.

Married at First Sight pushes people into unnatural situations, and viewers get to see if they can sink or swim. Experts say they try to give people access to matches with “forever” potential, but the prognosis is often bleak. Emem isn’t too mean – he’s just with the wrong person. Okechi is not too picky – he just needs a more sensitive partner.
