Married at first sight season 18 couple Ikechi Ojoré and Emem Oboti’s initial chemistry is giving way to a rapidly deteriorating marriage. Ikechi, 41, is a university counselor and artist who met Ememi, a 35-year-old nurse, on her wedding day. The couple had a rocky relationship that made their co-stars jealous. However, when Ikechi’s attitude derails their progress, it is becoming clear that their future is not so bright.

Ikechi and Ememi’s relationship collapsed when they returned home from their honeymoon. Ikechi acted indifferent towards Ememi, and a disagreement over their physical relationship led him to make shocking accusations about Ememi. It is not surprising that Married at first sight the season 18 trailer shows their relationship unraveling even further.

Ikechi’s indifference to his wife’s feelings shows that he cares more about fame than building a lasting marriage.

Ikechi had red flags coming into the show

His MAFS and relationship history are troubling

It was easy to be wary of Ikechi after learning that he had previously applied to participate Lifelong‘s MAFS. Ikechi claims the experts found him no match, making it suspicious that he continued to apply. Her persistence suggests she’s chasing weight or has serious issues preventing her from finding a mate outside of the reality TV realm.

Ikechi’s relationship history is also worrying. Before marrying Ememi, he hadn’t been in a serious relationship for over ten years. It seems strange that Ikechi was so persistent with it Married at first sight yet doesn’t even present himself as marriage material. Meanwhile, he published a Book of letters to his future spouse, adding to his worries MAFS appearance was organized for fame.

Ikechi reacted with impunity

He is not worried about Ememi’s feelings

Ikechi and Ememi’s marriage took a turn when he started using unpleasant language towards her. He first called her his “homie”, putting her in the friend zone while they were still on their honeymoon. Later, Ikechi and Ememi’s progress was halted when he called her “aggressive”, which he found very offensive. Ikechi didn’t apologize or try to back down. Instead, he stood by his words, even bringing them up again in the ensuing controversy.

Ikechi’s true colors were revealed when cameras captured the aftermath of a major disagreement between the couple. Emem and Ikechi met Married at first sight‘s Dr. Pia Holec follows the argument about intimacy. As Ikechi described Ememi’s progress, Dr. Pia asked him if he had been “broken”, and he thought he had. However, he later admitted that Emem had in fact respected his boundaries.

Ikechi’s willingness to make such strong false accusations against his wife is a sign of his disregard for anyone but himself.

When Ikechi was first introduced Married at first sighthe announced his intention to take care of his future wife. However, this commitment to care was lost when he married Ememi. Apart from insulting his personality Ikechi acted disgusted by Ememi’s attempts to initiate intimacy. He claimed that they didn’t know each other on that level yet, but at the same time he continued to push her away.

Ikechi doesn’t seem interested in being a husband. He doesn’t respect Ememi’s feelings and tries to make her look bad because he’s trying to build a relationship with her. If he can’t properly nurture his wife, Ikechi should never have been dumped. His callous behavior and unwillingness to work for his relationship suggest that Married at first sightIkechi Ojoré is just after fame, and his ego is sabotaging his marriage to Ememi.

Married at first sight airs Tuesdays at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
