Rachel Gordillo attended Married at first sight to join Jose San Miguel Jr. at the altar, and it’s time to see what he’s been up to since the show started. Rachel has been promoting the series, traveling and enjoying all the local art and culture in her hometown. Former Married at first sight star Rachel grew up in Houston, and has said she had a remarkably happy childhood there despite her parents’ divorce.

After less than perfect dating luck, Rachel took a leap of faith on the show with Jose. On paper, the two complemented each other nicely. Jose was ambitious and highly organized, while Rachel admitted that she could be more frugal with money. The couple ran into stumbling blocks. Tensions reached their peak then Rachel called Jose by her ex’s nameand he ended up locking her out of the house. When she returned, she felt like she got the cold shoulder from Jose, and she wasn’t sure if he truly cared about her feelings.

Did they stay together?

Although Lifelong‘s Rachel and Jose said yes to staying married on Decision Day. In the photo, they were wearing rings, but separated. Fans saw red flags between Jose and Rachel. The pair left the cast for bombshells at some point after filming and were seen sitting together, raising hopes of things moving forward. They also adopt a lost dog and enjoy being pet parents all day. Even though Rachel said she and Jose liked the dog, there was no sign of Jose in her dog parenting daily recap video.

Rachel and Jose broke up a few weeks after the closing date, but then reconciled before the reunion was filmed. However, they announced their decision to separate after just eight months of marriage in December 2021.

“After much consideration, we have decided that it is better for us to go our separate ways,” they said in a joint statement PEOPLE. “It’s a decision we don’t make lightly, but after trying to make this marriage work, we know this decision is in the best interest of our future.”

Rachel and Jose’s joint statement didn’t specifically mention the catalyst that drove them apart, so it’s just speculation.

Post-divorce Rachel hit the town with cute looks from Pretty Little Thing and filmed workout videos after partying over Thanksgiving. Last but not least, Rachel recently posted a quiet day at Niki De Sainte Phalle’s art collection in Houston on Instagram. In the gallery, he admired some classics from the 1960s.
